my little angel.

recently i have been in such a crafty, creative mood! i have had such a desire to learn new things.
i'm a pretty creative person. or at least i like to think that i am. but i certainly have not been nurturing that part of me these last couple years. and i soo miss it.

so my goal this year is to cultivate my creative side. 

i think the first thing i want to learn is how to crochet and sew. i've sewed a little bit in the past but i think i'm
still gonna have to start from scratch cause it's been a while.
i'm also thrilled thinking about all the fun DIY projects i'm sure i will be doing once we move!

scarlett is beautiful and sweet as always.
she has been going thru a phase of not napping. not napping on her own, i should say. she just wants to snuggle with mamma :) which just makes me happy.
she seems to be becoming less camera shy lol...now whenever i stick the camera in front of her to take a picture she gets very excited! she is the cutest.
Alex just started his last semester of law school this week!!!
the next few months are going to be very time consuming for him but then he will be done!
i am soo proud of him. i can't believe how fast the last (almost) 3 years have gone by.
i am so ready and excited for this next season of life.


thank you Jesus for this life i have been given!

i was called ma'am tonight. ma'am.

um really? when did i become a ma'am?

i was shopping with my sisters and scarlett was in the carrier.
rebekah thinks maybe the girl thought all 3 of them were my kids lol.

4 months

i love watching this little girl grow!
and she is growing fast. scarlett now weighs 18 lbs 4 oz. which is off the charts % wise!
yeah. big baby. and just over 25 inches long (89%). she's my chunk.

she's reaching for things all the time now...and quickly shoves whatever she grabs in her mouth!
we're wondering if she is a lefty because we (and others) have noticed she seems to favor it.
so we'll see about that.
being sung to and dancing with daddy are some of her favorites.
she also loves to stand and she is soo close to sitting up by herself! well she can sit up by herself she
just doesn't last very long haha. she is hilarious and is constantly making alex and i laugh!
she has the most beautifully adorable smile and little laugh that makes my heart melt. literally melt.
i can't take it.
as much as i don't want this first year to go by too fast, i soo look forward to each new stage.

 CHRISTMAS!

what i look forward to all year long! it. is. my. FAVORITE.
and i've been thinking about this particular one for a very long time :)
my baby's first christmas. my first christmas as a mama. alex's first as a daddy.
it was wonderful.


we spent almost 10 days back home with our families. but before we left, the 3 of us had our own
{christmas morning}. scarlett was too cute. i think the wrapping paper was her favorite part.
i have a weird obsession with wrapping paper, btw. i love it.

so alex and i got engaged 3 years ago on december 23rd in chicago at daley plaza.
(p.s. we thought about Daley for scarlett's middle name) 
so the day before christmas eve the three of us took the train to the city to celebrate!
it was fun. chicago at christmas is one of my favorites. hence why i was asked to get married in front of
a giant christmas tree in the snow. it was perfect. 
anyway. scarlett did soo well! it was such a fun day trip.

christmas eve was spent with april + claire...
christmas day was spent with my parents and siblings...
aaand the morning after christmas was spent with papa wimmer, grandma patty + family...who were in town from iowa and texas for the weekend!

i love our families!
scarlett was the center of everything...as always :) 
she got some fun toys and cute clothes, including the most adorable pair of pink moccasin boots!

we spent some time with my grandpapa at his nursing home on christmas, too. i love him. he adores scarlett--just like he adores the rest of us :) first christmas without gramma :( i missed her.

oh! something fun that happened before christmas was scarlett getting her first birthday party invitation!!
i'm pretty excited about this lol! little mister gavyn is turning one in february!
